Today we are going to talk about how to do your own fecal exam for your chameleon. Of course, there is much more to it than I can go over here, but it really isn’t that hard and we will give you a very good start. I have brought back Alec O’Brien who is a vet tech and chameleon breeder!
For those interested in Reptile parasites, these two books are the best out there! Check for Kindle or iPad or any other electronic versions.

As far as equipment, purchasing these one time will last a long time for you!
Microscope
This is a similar microscope to what I use. This one does not have the computer interface so you can use your smartphone to take pictures through the eye pieces.
Microscope with computer display
If you would like a professional interface to your computer where you can record video and still pictures then it is not much more to get a model that does just that. BEWARE: These microscopes don’t support all systems. Whatever microscope you select specifically verify that it supports the computer system you want to use with it.
Microscope slides & Cover Slips
This pack is of 100 of glass slides and 100 cover slips
Agitators
It is worth it, in my opinion, to get yourself these plastic collection and agitation container. This box will give you 50 and that should tide you over for a nice long time.
Fecosol
This is the solution we use for the float
Wash Bottle
As you are trying to fill up the agitator and you want to stop right at the moment before it overflows I would suggest you pick up a squirt bottle. It can be messy pouring that big jug of Fecasol into a little agitator. And this stuff really isn’t what you want splashing around.
Saline Solution
I am including a link to this to be comprehensive, but you can buy this at any place that sells saline for contact lenses.
